In this design I created, I used the layer clipping mask option to give the text a gold texture, along with some other visual effects. I used a mask on the text layer to budge-in areas with "nails" to give it an even more 3D effect. My steps in creating this:
- Created document
- Added text layer
- Chose font
- Made the text bold
- Made background black (temp)
- Found gold texture image
- Created clipping mask with gold texture + text layer
- Added additional layer styles
- Bevel & Emboss
- Inner Shadow
- Gradient
- Drop Shadow
- Color Overlay
- Added mask to text layer
- Removed areas of layer; replaced them with "nails"
- Found "wooden-board" background image
- Recreated contrast with Levels options (Ctrl + L)
- Added custom shadows to text layer
- Added filter to background: Lens Flare
- Created extra glow layer using radial gradient tool
- Created "shine" with custom brushes
- Added Veelocity logo
- Smiled and saved the file for the last time (for now)
