The Lone Hummingbird

With the "put a bird on it" theme for our lino print project I decided to recreated a hummingbird sitting on a branch, with the intention for entertainment. I started off in Photoshop, as I tried to posterize the original image of the bird into two color levels. Once that was done, I removed the access lines/shapes and thickened thin lines. After this the colors were decided, and I printed the image to use as a reference.

The rest was pretty straight forward, as I gouged away at the lino print. My first layer was orange, and to compliment it my second layer was brown. With all 13 prints, I was quiet impressed at the quality and accuracy of the final result.
